The biographical film of Christy Brown, the Irish writer and painter born with cerebral palsy who created his work using the one limb he could control. Daniel Day-Lewis won an Oscar for the role, which is also the most-cited example in the debate disability communities call cripping up: a nondisabled actor lauded for difficulty rather than accuracy, occupying a disabled life. Worth watching critically, precisely because it sits at the center of that conversation.
