Founded in 1980 by Mary Verdi-Fletcher, one of the first professional wheelchair dancers in the US, Dancing Wheels pioneered "stand-up/sit-down" technique that partners wheelchair users with standing dancers. Performance footage, education films, and excerpts are posted free on their channels. A long-running cornerstone of American physically integrated dance, and a useful contrast to AXIS for studying how chair vocabulary developed.
